Digital security is no longer simply about protecting systems against cyberattacks. Artificial intelligence, new European regulation and a changing geopolitical landscape mean that security is increasingly intertwined with both societal resilience and business competitiveness.
Bankdata’s Michael Lind Mortensen will now take on a central role in these areas. He has been appointed vice chair of the Danish Council for Digital Security (Rådet for Digital Sikkerhed) after serving on the Council’s board for several years.
“AI is inevitably a key topic for the Council, and Michael brings hands-on experience with AI from a large organisation operating in a highly regulated sector. Having Michael join the leadership is therefore extremely valuable to us,” says Henning Mortensen, chair of the Danish Council for Digital Security and CISO at Brødrene A.O. Johansen.
AI is changing the challenges we face
In his day-to-day role, Michael Lind Mortensen is responsible for enabling Bankdata employees to use generative AI in software development. He does so in a sector subject to extensive requirements relating to cybersecurity, operational resilience, data protection and technology.
“AI will play a crucial role in societal security, the way we run businesses and our competitiveness in the years ahead. At the same time, the technology is rapidly changing the challenges we need to address. That means we need both a strong technical understanding and a solid grasp of regulation and its broader societal implications,” says Michael Lind Mortensen.
The technology raises new questions around security, accountability, data protection and regulation. For Michael Lind Mortensen, it is essential that these perspectives are not addressed in isolation.
“I look forward to becoming even more involved in the Council’s work and contributing to its mission,” he says.
About the Danish Council for Digital Security
The Danish Council for Digital Security is an independent membership organisation bringing together representatives from the public sector, businesses, IT providers, academia, consumers and professional users. The Council works to promote a safe and free digital society, with a particular focus on information security, cybersecurity and privacy.
